Granada from Above: Top 6 Rooftop Bars in Town

Former U.S. president Bill Clinton once said Granada has one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. We’re a little biased, but we have to agree! To help you decide for yourself, here are the top six rooftop bars in Granada—the perfect place to enjoy this city’s sunsets!

One of the characteristics that made Granada so popular for settlement centuries ago was its flat landscape. Enjoy the views, complete with mountain ranges in the distance, from one of our favorite rooftop bars in Granada!

1. Monasterio Chill Out

This rooftop terrace was named after the Monastery of Saint Jerome, which was designed by the same architect as Granada’s cathedral! You’ll have front row seats to this Renaissance masterpiece while you sip on a refreshing cocktail. Because they cover the terrace throughout the winter, you can enjoy these fantastic views no matter what the weather brings!

Address: Hotel Los Jerónimos, Calle San Juan de Dios 1

We strongly recommend you to visit the Monastery. Here lay the bodies of the Great Captain of the Granada wars, Gonzalo Fernandez de Cordoba, and his wife. As you can guess from just a glance, its architecture outside and inside won't leave you indifferent.

2. Lemon Rock & Bar Hostel

This is one of the newest additions to the must-visit rooftops in Granada. Even though this hostel opened less than 3 years ago, it’s got a lot going for it. We love the industrial-retro decor, and the tapas are great value for money. It’s no wonder this place has become popular among the locals. The terrace has a relaxing feel, and it’s a great place to relax during summer.

Insider’s Tip: Don’t miss their mojitos—they’re the best in town!

Address: Calle Montalbán 6

This is one of the best places to get in touch with local people, but you will also meet travelers from all over the globe who are attracted by the charms of this Bar/Hostel!

4. Panoramic 360

Even though Panoramic 360 isn’t right in the city center, the eight-minute taxi ride is totally worth it. Located at the top of a high, modern building, our favorite part of this place is that it spins 360º per hour! Even though you won’t even notice the subtle movement, you’ll enjoy a panoramic view of the entire city, including the Alhambra, the countryside and the Sierra Nevada mountains. Those views paired with the most delicious fusion cuisine makes this one of the coolest rooftop bars in Granada!

Address: Calle Jose Luis Perez Pujadas

The Forum building is also venue for a popular and nice disco called after it. So this is the perfect place to experience a dinner and party night!

5. Hotel Alhambra Palace

Back in the 90s, this was one of the city’s most luxurious hotels. Now, after a renovation, it’s re-opened, and it certainly hasn’t lost the Moorish essence that made it so popular in the past! It’s located on the Sabika hill, and yes that’s the same hill as the Alhambra! In other words, with the Alhambra just a five-minute walk away, this hotel’s location couldn’t be any better. And apart from the great location, this hotel’s terrace is considered to be one of the most breathtaking rooftop bars in the city. You will almost feel like the Moorish kings and queens staring at the sun setting over their beloved city from the hill of the Red Fortress!

Address: Plaza Arquitecto García de Paredes, 1

The terrace of this hotel is public and local people love to go there from time to time. Plus, the promenade back to town is downhill and you will know the lovely area of Campo del Príncipe.

6. Huerto de Juan Ranas

And, last but not least, we leave you with the terrace that provides even more  astonishing views of the Alhambra! Located at the famous Mirador de San Nicolás, Huerto de Juan Ranas is the place to be if you’re looking for a relaxed dinner or morning coffee with views you’ll never forget.

Address: Calle Atarazana Vieja, 6

Once in the Albaicin, this is the best place to hang around for a relaxed drink. Can you believe these views are even real?
