Ethical tourism

Tourism is changing, and we’re excited to be at the forefront of that change! Our tours visit & support local family-run establishments, not large chains and we give back to our communities through charitable organizations like Serve the City. Plus, we hire and train the best staff and pay them well.

100% Spanish Owned

We are a 100% Spanish owned and operated company. By choosing us, you’re supporting local Spanish businesses that we include on our tours and your ticket price flows back into the local economy. We proudly and strictly abide by all local laws and pay 21% Spanish sales tax on every ticket.

Certificate of Excellence

We’re proud to have been awarded the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence every year since we’ve been in operation. And our commitment to excellence means our happy guests have left us over 2,000 5-star TripAdvisor reviews! Join one of our tours - we think you’ll notice the difference.

Our Team

Alejandro Cabrera Managing Director

Alejandro hails from the very south of Spain, and grew up in the sherry-producing town of El Puerto de Santa María in Cadiz. He traded beachside barbecues for the buzz of the Spanish capital, where he enjoys promoting his country and its diverse cuisine at every opportunity.

James Blick Managing Director

Enchanted by the country’s exhilarating culture and cuisine, James has written about Spain for international publications, including the Guardian and the UK Sunday Times. He hosts a popular YouTube channel about Spain, and has appeared on the BBC and British Channel 4. A wine lover, he is WSET Level 3 certified.

Lauren Aloise Managing Director

Lauren grew up in an Italian-American family where 3-hour meals were the norm. After 10 years in the restaurant industry, she moved to Spain where she launched her popular Spanish food blog, Spanish Sabores, and soon after lead groups on the first Devour Madrid Food Tours.

Marta Sánchez Granada City Manager

Marta was born in Granada and, even though she has guided groups all over Europe, she always enjoyed returning to her home and her mother’s amazing “tortilla de patatas” (Spanish omelette). Now she has found her place showing our guests the flavor of this Moorish city and making her young daughter an expert in Andalusian castles and fortresses.

Ashley Duncan Customer Service & Marketing Assistant

A native Texan, Ashley fell in love with the Spanish language, culture, and food while studying in Madrid. After graduation, she spent two years in sunny southern Spain and then worked as a camp director in the US. She returned to Madrid and joined Devour Tours to share her love of Spain with anyone she can!

Cyra Alcock Product Manager

Originally from Australia, Cyra came over to this side of the world in 2005 and never looked back! Since then she’s lived in the UK, Italy, Portugal & Spain working as a professional tour guide. But it was Seville’s charm that captured her heart, and she hasn’t looked back since moving to her favorite city for food, wine and quality of life.

Katie Stearns Marketing Director

Born and raised in the U.S. Midwest, Katie turned down a full-time job at a newspaper to live in Spain. With a background in journalism and communication, she became marketing director at the startup Glamping Hub in Seville. Then, after a six-year love affair with the south of Spain, she moved to Madrid (and Devour Tours!) to experience the thrill of a larger city. When not at work, Katie can be found searching Madrid for ingredients (buttermilk, I need you for fried chicken!), running, or reading a book!

Mayu Ishikawa Customer Service Manager

Born in Toyota, Japan but grew up near San Francisco, California, Mayu has previously worked on customer experience at Spanish startup Spotahome before joining Devour Tours. She loves the Madrileño lifestyle and culture, and finds pleasure in the little things: whether it be a cute interaction with a Spanish abuela or a quaint alley that she’s never seen before. This country, she says, is full of wonderful surprises.

Our friends you'll meet on tour

Rosa Tosca
Restaurant Owner

“Without rent controls, so many emblematic places are closing, and everything is starting to look the same,” Rosa says. “We’ve had two tough years. It’s been difficult to meet our expenses. That’s why this tour has been crucial for us.”
